The Beauty of Going with the Flow.

Going with the flow, in my opinion, is dancing to the rhythm of life; or simply put, trusting in the abundance and magic of the universe. As I celebrated my 26th birthday the other day, I couldn’t help but wonder how ironic it was that only once we surrender to life’s currents, can we then see that beauty is not solely in the destination that we’re headed, but in the journey itself β€” the ups, the downs, and the graceful, meandering path that makes life truly extraordinary. One lesson I gained very early on was the understanding that this physical human experience in a complex and transcendental space, also known as life, will never be all sunshine and rainbows. There will be constant moments of challenge, hardship, and sorrow – on the contrary, even in the “downs,” there’s a unique kind of beauty. It’s the beauty of resilienceβ€”the strength we find within ourselves to rise again after a fall, to weather the storms, and to emerge wiser and more compassionate.

After 2.5 decades on earth, you officially start to learn a few things about yourself, arguably because your brain has finally fully developed by the age of 25. One thing that I’ve personally learned about myself is that I struggle with letting go. This could mean anything depending on the particular setting or context. Examples of this phenomena would be struggling to let go of something or someone because of attachment issues in relationships; struggling to let go of power by having a hard time delegating tasks; struggling to let go of memories or even past experiences by constantly living in the past; or even struggling to go with the flow by always living in anxiety… stressing about the future. Nevertheless, I’ve realized that at the heart of this adventure of self-realization, lies the profound importance of knowing thyself and embracing the art of going with the flow. These two aspects, self-awareness and adaptability, are like compasses guiding us through the labyrinth of existence. Together, they unlock a richer and more fulfilling and dynamic human experience.

When we go with the flow, we free ourselves from the burden of rigid plans and expectations. It’s like unshackling our spirit, allowing it to soar freely. This freedom brings a lightness to life, where we’re not weighed down by the need to control every aspect of our journey. Additionally, life is unpredictable and filled with unexpected twists and turns. Going with the flow is an artful display of adaptability. It’s the ability to pivot gracefully when circumstances change, finding solutions instead of dwelling on problems. This adaptability is where growth and resilience flourish. However, one of the greatest beauty of going with the flow is the peace it brings. There is truly tranquility in knowing that we don’t have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We can release our grip on control and trust that life’s currents will guide us where we need to go. In the graceful dance of going with the flow, we discover that beauty is not confined to a destination but is ever-present in the journey itself.

Going with the flow is learning the freedom of surrender, the adaptability to change, the serendipity of the unexpected, and the resilience in adversity. It’s in the mindful appreciation of the present moment and the peace that comes with letting go. That being said, I urge you to embrace life’s graceful rhythm, and you’ll find that the beauty of going with the flow is an art worth masteringβ€”a symphony of serenity and wonder in the face of life’s ever-changing currents. When it comes to aiding in the practice of mindfulness – a concept that I have talked about numerously in previous blogs, going with the flow can help you recenter your thoughts and perspectives into a more positively aligned POV, as this re-centering invites us to fully engage with the present moment, and to relish the now rather than constantly chasing the future. In this state of presence, we discover the exquisite beauty in life’s smallest details β€” a sunset in the horizon, a smile from a stranger, a heartfelt conversation with a loved one… literally anything.

I think there’s a reason why old adages such as “go with the flow” exist. They are here to constantly remind us, whether consciously or in passing, that life is a measure of surmountable lessons that culminate a unique set of experiences for every single body. It is so remarkable to me how different/versatile everyone in the world has been designed. Even twins from a split cell have distinct personality traits that science hasn’t gotten to a level of fully explaining yet. That being said, it is so important to be constantly AWARE of this experience, but at the same time, it is vital to relinquish power at necessary times because honestly, you are too small of a molecule in this grand scheme of the universe to make what was NOT meant to happen, occur. In other words, what was meant to happen will always be. All we can do on our end is to prepare the best we can by constantly being in action or motion – and seizing every opportunity we get at the “perfect” moment. Don’t over think it; Don’t over-do it. Just go with the flow.

With love,

Stace.
